After long controversies, All Sikkim Gurung Tamu Buddhist Association finally held the elections for the higher posts of the association today at the Mining Senior Secondary School, Rangpo.  Sources state that three parties from different parts of Sikkim contested the elections. These parties were led by Mr. Binod Gurung, Mr. Tika Gurung and Mr. H.B. Gurung. The elections were conducted under the supervision of SDM Rangpo, SDPO Rangpo and Rangpo SHO. The police force also contributed to organize the elections in a peaceful manner. The elections saw a huge participation of people which can clearly be understood by the situation that the polls started with 4 polling booths but the huge crowd forced the management to increase the number to 7. Indian footballer Mr. Robin Gurung was one of the star figures who also casted his vote on the day.
