First fixed wing aircraft of IAF Dornier 228(19 seater) successfully landed at Pakyong today.

Pakyong, March 5:(IPR) First fixed wing aircraft of IAF Dornier 228(19 seater) successfully landed at Pakyong today. 

The Chief Secretary, Shri A.K.Shrivastava said, " This is a historic day for the state of Sikkim when the Dornier 288 aircraft (19 seater) landed successfully at 3:25 pm at Pakyong Airport today. This was possible after several attempts over the last few days and the aircraft came from Guwahati. 
Another flight by the same aircraft will be possible in about ten days time. The aircraft came close to ATC and it was learnt that all the systems were working well. One flight of Spice Jet is expected to land on 10th March 2018. This 70 seater plane is likely to bring high ranking officials of AAI and DGCA. Attempts are also being made from May 2000 to construct a Civilian Aerodrome in Sikkim so the landing of date assumes immense significance," he added. 

Airport Director, Pakyong Airport stated, "after making several trail low pass over runway on 28th Feb, today IAF made-up all possibility to land though the visibility was not that clear. My entire team of AAI, Pakyong has made it succefull with the help of district authorities. This is the beginning of aviation connectivity for Sikkim and I thank all help and support being extended by Ministry & district authorities for this success."

Sikkim Railway Project Land Dispute at Mazitar Rangpo

Land dispute created in Khanikhola Majhitar Rangpo East Sikkim has created a big controversy to work the railway project smoothly. Today the construction company IRCON Executive director Mr A K Goyal along with AGM Mr  T T  Bhutia  and delegates has visited the railway project site  and  feel this problem. According to Mr. T T Bhutia AGM   the  land compensation  is already  deposited   to the related departed government of Sikkim  and work was also started with temporary road construction which help the construction material  for reach to the site but  suddenly in the midterm the  land dispute created which  has   totally collapsed  the  work of the railway .  till today the work is stopped which is not only creating problem but huge loss  is also have to face  to IRCON  and other contractors who has taken the work the machine installed in the area is on hire  and every day  thy has to pay hire without  working any works waiting a good result from any side  .it is also come to know that the bharatiya railway is pressuring  them to completing  the works  as soon as possible but such  type of delay is hampering  to start work rapidly .they has appealed the east district administrative  functionaries to clear the dispute so that they shall execute  the work accordingly .according to the sources  the lad dispute  is created due to he dispute  between two families  with the ancestor land.

After long controversies, All Sikkim Gurung Tamu Buddhist Association finally held the elections for the higher posts of the association today at the Mining Senior Secondary School, Rangpo.  Sources state that three parties from different parts of Sikkim contested the elections. These parties were led by Mr. Binod Gurung, Mr. Tika Gurung and Mr. H.B. Gurung. The elections were conducted under the supervision of SDM Rangpo, SDPO Rangpo and Rangpo SHO. The police force also contributed to organize the elections in a peaceful manner. The elections saw a huge participation of people which can clearly be understood by the situation that the polls started with 4 polling booths but the huge crowd forced the management to increase the number to 7. Indian footballer Mr. Robin Gurung was one of the star figures who also casted his vote on the day.

Prestigious Award To Sikkimese Journalist At Shillong


Mr. Sanjay Agarwal, a journalist from Rangpo Sikkim was awarded Jeewanram Mungi Devi Goenka Smriti Samman 2016 at Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya amidst a three day log program named as Hindi Vikas Sammelan organized by the Purvottar Hindi Academy. Among the presence of more than 100 renowned poets, social workers, journalists etc, participating in the program from more than 15 states, Dr. Akela Bhai, the secretary of the academy in his address mentioned that Sanjay Agarwal of Sikkim state has been awarded for his vision and working towards the development and preservance of Indian culture and social development efforts in different parts of the country. This year two personalities are awarded in the same category, with the second personality being Mr. Sharad Chandra Bajpai of Kanpur. A felicitation letter, memento, and shawl was presented to Mr. Agarwal of Rangpo Sikkim by Mr Shankarlal Ji Goenaka, Trustee of the Jeewanram Mungi Devi Goenka Charitable Trust and also the chief guest of the occasion. The program was also blessed by special guest Mr Pawan Bawori,  Trustee of the J N Bawori Charitable Trust, President of the Poorvanchal Hindi Acadamy, Mr. Bimal Bajaj and Dr. Hariwani, the Editor of monthly magazine Vaishya Pariwar.

Stranded tourists in North Sikkim due to blockade

Stranded tourists in North Sikkim due to blockade on 17 May are being ferried to Gangtok with support from civil defence, Police, IRBn, SAP Forces as well as citizens. 
 Sikkim Police is also checking overcharging by vehicles.
